South Kingston, RI , August 3, 2006 - NESTMA Announces 2006 Charles K. Mruk Scholarship Awards at Field Day.

New England Sports Turf Managers Association Announce The 2006 Charles K Murk Scholarship Awards.  NESTMA announced the 2006 Murk scholarship awards at the August 3rd Field Day in South Kingstown, RI. This year's award winners are:

• Nathan Salmore of Nantucket MA. Nate who attends the University of Massachusetts received a $500 award.
• Anne Beckingham of Old Forge, NY.  Anne who attends the State University of New York at Delhi received a $500 award.
• Nathaniel Miller of Farmingdale, ME. Nathaniel who attends the University of Connecticut received a $1000 award.

The New England Sports Turf Managers Association awards scholarships to students who plan to attend or, are attending, a two year or four year program of studies.

Charles K. Mruk scholarships of up to $1,000.00 each will be awarded to students, who express a financial need, have shown an involvement in sports turf activities, and are pursuing a career in this field.

The scholarships are in recognition of Charles Mruk for his dedication to the turf industry. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he was employed by Hercules Incorporated, and AgrEvo USA, for twenty-eight years as a field agronomist. Mr. Mruk was always an advocate of education. He participated in, and served on, many boards and educational programs throughout New England, including the Massachusetts Turf Conference, New England Sports Turf Managers Association, and the Massachusetts Lawn and Turfgrass Council.
