Maine Turf Day Great Success –Nick Caggiano

The second annual Maine Turf Day was held on June 14, 2006 at the Wainwright recreation Athletic Complex in South Portland Maine. Over 120 participants attended this collaborative effort between the New England Sports Turf Managers Association and the New England Parks Association. These participants represented schools, municipalities, and universities through out northern New England.
Training sessions included talks on Baseball Game Field Prep, Laser Leveling, Repairing High Traffic Areas, Rotodarian Demonstrations, Pesticide Management, and Sprayer / Spreader Calibration. Facilitators Speakers included Rick Perruzzi CSFM, Eric Blanton NH Fisher Cats, Mark Casey Turf Links, Lance Tibbits CSFM & STMA Board Member, Mary Owen U Mass – Amherst, Jason Chisholm The City of Portland, Jim Reinerson Turf Specialist LLC, Boyd Montgomory CSFM The Toro Co, and The City of South Portland Maine.
After a great BBQ lunch round table discussions were held allowing sports field managers to share ideas, concerns, and general conversation with each other. Sponsors for the event included Lesco INC, Pioneer Athletics, SMART, Turf Products Corp, Franklin Paint, and The Boston Co.
