President’s Message
Summer 2008
Summer has been flying by. I hope that everyone has had the chance to take a few days off and enjoy the season. I also hope that you had a chance to attend the NEPA / NESTMA Northern Turf Day in Maine, and our Summer Field Day at Boston College. You should all be receiving the 2008 directory shortly the directory will have a new look this year please let us know what you think.
The 2008 Board Elections were held in June and I would like to welcome our new and returning Board members and Officers. Thank you for committing your time and efforts to NESTMA. I am also very honored to be elected as President of NESTMA for a second term. Please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Board if you have a question or idea.
NESTMA is helping provide educational opportunities, stewardship opportunities, scholarship opportunities, and networking opportunities all you have to do is look around at what is taking place At our September 2006 board meeting a set of goals for the next four years was established these goals included:
- To continue our mission in providing scholarships for students studying sports turf management.
- To further develop our website so that we can increase communication to the membership.
- To develop a system of state ambassadors so each state will have a primary contact.
- To put plans in place that will double our membership over the next four years.
- To continue to seek ways to raise the level of professionalism of the organization.
- To continue working with colleges and universities by promoting our scholarship program and develop our student memberships.
I am happy to report that we are well on our way to achieving these goals.
I hope that you will be able to participate in our fall activities the Field Makeover will be occurring in late September, the MALCP / NESTMA golf tournament will be in October as well as our Fall Workshop. Details about these events will be coming out shortly.
See you this summer.
