Directs municipal parks maintenance and recreational programs. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BS degree in Recreation Administration or Public Administration plus five years supervisory experience in parks maintenance and recreational programming.  Driver’s license required.  Must be certified as a Parks and Recreation Professional or obtain certification within one year of hire. 

SALARY: To $59,705 with excellent benefits package.

Job Description: Park Maintenance Craftsman Class A
Position provides skilled and semi-skilled labor functions for the Parks and Recreation Department.  Responsibilities include performing physical labor, mowing lawns, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of operating light, medium and heavy trucks, including scoop and backhoe, and equipment required for Parks & Recreation projects, power tools, and ensuring for the safe and efficient operation of vehicles and machinery.

A candidate for this position should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and one to three- (1-3) years of prior experience in landscaping and/or ground maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A candidate for this position must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and a hydraulic and hoisting license that is applicable to all department equipment.  A candidate for this position must have a valid Massachusetts drivers license.  A candidate for this position will be required to undergo department sponsored training for required department equipment used.
